Dino Melaye’s arch-enemy, Gov Yahaya Bello injures foot in car accident, walks on crutches
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi now walks on crutches after injuring his left leg in a minor accident.
Bello fell off while alighting from his car last Friday, a statement from his office says.
The incident happened at the Old Market area in Lokoja, when the governor was waiting to receive House of Representatives speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara who visited the capital for the burial of member Umar Buba Jibril.
“The injury prevented the governor from attending the burial of Jibril. He was represented by his deputy, Mr. Simon Achuba,” the statement said.
Bello’s office dismissed reports that he was critically injured in the accident and was hospitalised.
The statement said he only injured his left foot while alighting from the vehicle.
The governor attracted attention on Tuesday, as he attended a meeting between Buhari and APC governors at the Presidential Villa on crutches.
Bello has a long-standing rivalry with Kogi West Senatorial District representative, Dino Melaye.
