Delta police nab suspect who snatched car at gunpoint from Lagos mother…two others on the run

Two men are on the run in Delta state after policemen frustrated their plans to make away with a car they snatched at gunpoint from a woman in Lagos.

One of the men was, however, unable to escape and is now being detained.

The men were intercepted in Delta state, and the car they stole has now been recovered.

“The owner of vehicle has been located,” police said in a statement on Friday.

“On 6th August, 2015, at about 8:00pm, Police Federal Highway patrol team along Ughelli – Patani road intercepted a Toyota RAV4 vehicle (reg no withheld) with three male occupants,” the police said.

“As soon as the vehicle was brought to a stop, two of the occupants immediately jumped out and took to their heels.

“The third person was held down, upon a search the vehicle documents bearing the name of a female was recovered alongside a complimentary card of another female whose address show Oladeinde Street, Ifako Gbagada, Lagos.

“A phone call was placed through to the number on the card, she introduced herself as daughter of the owner of the vehicle. She confirmed that vehicle was snatched at gun point from her mother.

“Vehicle recovered to the station, suspect under custody. The owner of vehicle has been located, efforts ongoing to track down the two other fleeing suspects. State CIID Asaba is investigating.”
