Delta: “Buhari’s fan beats man into coma for spreading president’s death rumours”

Police had to intervene in Delta State after a man who hailed from Kano reportedly assaulted a taxi driver who told people President Muhammadu Buhari was dead for real.

The driver was spreading the fake news at a newsstand when Usman Bukar, 41, landed him hot slaps.

Eyewitnesses say Bukar slapped the driver so had he collapsed and was rushed to hospital where doctors revived him.

The incident reportedly happened at Temple Clinic Junction in Asaba.

“The body of the President should be thrown into River-Niger for fish and other wild animals to do justice on him. He is very wicked,” the driver reportedly said before an enraged Bukar launched the assault.

The situation almost degenerated into a free for all after relatives of the taxi driver were then called to the scene.

The relatives reportedly wanted to beat Bukar up. But police responded on time to prevent more violence.

State police spokesperson Andrew Aniamaka confirmed the incident. He said the driver was still in hospital as at the time of filing this report.

Bukar has been arrested, the police said.

President Buhari is vacationing in London where he also received medical treatment.

A fake website recently reported the president dead. To rumour has been widely condemned and debunked but some say Buhari should do a live video to prove he’s alive.

Officials have urged Nigerians to wait for the president’s February 6 return to the country.
