CPC, NAFDAC investigate biscuit manufacturers after death of Abuja pupils

The Consumer Protection Council said it has commenced investigation into the case of the three pupils of Local Education Authority Primary School, Kubwa 2, Federal Capital Territory, that died after eating some biscuits.
The victims, said to be primary four pupils, include Na’imat Yahaya, 14, and Yahaya Garba also 14, had died after eating biscuits reportedly shared by a classmate.
Director General of Consumer Protection Council, Barrister Babatunde Irukera said today that investigation had begun into the cause of the incident.
Irukera said the CPC will partner with NAFDAC to ascertain the credibility of biscuit brands in relation to numerous child deaths recorded as a result of biscuit consumption in the country.
