Court Sentences Kidnappers of Lagos Monarch To Death
Three years after the Oniba of Ibaland, Oba Yushau Goriola Oseni was kidnapped, his abductors have finally been brought to justice.
Duba Furejo aka General Cuba, Reuben Anthony, and Yerin Fresh were on Wednesday sentenced to death for kidnapping the Oniba of Iba.
After an hour of proceedings at the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo handed down a death sentence to the three notorious kidnappers.
The suspects who were first arraigned on October 24, 2016, over eight-count charge bordering on murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, and kidnapping, were also responsible for killing the palace security guard, Sunday Okanlawon and one Okada rider, Joseph Okeke.
The judge explained that “a heinous crime of kidnapping does not only terrorize the victim but terrorize the society” and as such deserves the judgment.
