CHILD ABUSE: Woman injures maid with well heated pressing iron
The Lagos State Police Command on Friday arrested a mother of four, Nkeiruka Ngwu, for brutalizing her 10- year -old housemaid, Chioma Samuel, whom she brought to Lagos from Umuoju, Ngwu, Abia State sometime in January 2018 after the death of the girl’s father.
Ngwu allegedly abused Chioma mentally and physically, leaving her with many injury marks.
It was gathered that the suspect used a well heated pressing iron to cause grievous injury on the victim’s hands and legs and also poured hot water on her, which scalded her skin.
Ngwu, a resident at 47 Ogundana Street, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, was said to have been apprehended on Thursday, when she took her children to school and prying eyes of other mothers caught the wounds on the upper and lower limbs of Chioma.

After questioning the girl, they waited for her Madam who had gone to drop her kids in their different classrooms. When she finished and was about to drive off, she was confronted by these women who nearly mobbed her.
The women told the suspect to take the girl to a hospital or else they would petition the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, but in spite of their warnings, Ngwu stubbornly went to the school on Friday, accompanied by the child victim whose wounds were manifestly untreated.
On seeing that their warnings were taken for granted, the women called the attention of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State to the matter.
She was subsequently arrested by the Command and will be charged to court today, Monday, March 12, 2018.
