So why did Cameroon send 2,000 Nigerians packing after Buhari’s visit?

President Muhammadu Buhari was obviously given a warm reception by his Cameroonian hosts.

“Okorocha’s” billboard was trending that time, and Cameroonian President Paul Biya ensured Buhari’s face was plastered on one.

We can’t say the same for the 2,000 Nigerians who were sent packing barely 24 hours after Buhari returned to Nigeria.

They were part of the over 40,000 Nigerians believed to have fled into Cameroon to escape Boko Haram terrorists.

A local administrator in Kousseri, the northern Cameroon region that deported the Nigerians told us why they had to kick the 2,000 people out.

1. The deported Nigerians were illegal occupants.

2. It was a security measure.

Boko Haram terrorists seem to be taking a deadly interest in Cameroon. In order to get a tighter grip on its security, the Kousseri leadership sent the Nigerians packing.
