Butcher beats wife to death in Ogun for “disrespecting” him

The suspect told the police his wife had been disrespecting him since his business began to drag.

A butcher has landed in trouble with the police after he allegedly pummeled his wife to death.

The suspect, 38-year-old Shina Kasali, allegedly committed the homicide at their residence on Saturday.

The incident, according to police authorities in the state, occurred when Kasali pounced on Sofiat for disobeying his command.

He reportedly told her to stay back as she made to leave to fetch water. Kasali would then beat her into a coma following an argument that ensued.

Sofiat died on the way to the hospital.

Kasali wasn’t arrested until a neighbour, Tunde Babatunde, reported the incident at the Agbado Police Divisional headquarters.

The suspect told the police his wife had been disrespecting him since his business began to drag.

“The suspect explained further that on that fateful day, he was sitting down outside when the deceased came to accuse him of looking into the private part of a prostitute who sat at the opposite direction and that was what led to the disagreement that led to her death,” police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi said.

Sofiat’s corpse was deposited in the mortuary at Ifo General Hospital for post-mortem investigation.

Kasali has been taken to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
