Buhari approves 50% retirement benefits for defunct Nigeria Airways’ former workers

Fifteen years after national carrier, Nigeria Airways ceased operations, former workers will begin to get their retirement benefits.
Newly appointed finance minister Zainab Ahmed said Monday that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved about 50 per cent of the N45.3bn entitlements of the former workers of the defunct airline.
A total sum of N22.68bn was approved according to the minister.
Ahmed also stated that part from the N22.8bn for the former aviation workers, she said that the sum of N20bn was approved for the education sector.
The Nigeria Airways was founded in 1958 and ceased operations in 2003.
The plan for a new national carrier, Nigeria Air has been suspended indefinitely.
