Bubbly 42-year-old woman diagnosed with rare cancer, family in desperate need of N63m
Bunmi Ashebu, until five months ago, had been bursting with life. Her dedication to a healthy lifestyle sees her visit the doctor for medical check ups every 6 months. She even engaged in sporty events.
All that changed on May 23, when she was told she had stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma – an ailment described as a very rare form of bile duct cancer that had spread to her liver.
According to a gofundme account that has been opened in her name, her loved ones immediately sought confirmation and more medical advice in Germany. In Germany, she was made to undergo chemotherapy, but after six weeks, she was discovered to be reacting to the treatment.
“Her organs were failing,” it is stated on the page.
In August, her family was told she had just one week to live as doctors said there was nothing that could be done.
Her family promptly moved her to a private clinic in Dornstetten, Germany, where she has started receiving treatment with hopes of Immunotherapy. No lesser than EUR200,000 (about N84 million) has gone into her treatment since her initial diagnosis.
The family and friends are now desperate for help to save the 42-year-old as they are out of funds. The hospital where she is being treated is requesting for immediate additional payments of at least EUR150,000 (about N63 million) or they would put a stop to her treatment.
The money would cover for her immunotherapy treatment and the cost of her stay at the clinic.
“To know Bunmi is to love her,” the gofundme account reads. “Bunmi is the kindest and most selfless person who is always willing to be there and give herself sacrificially to everyone. Now she needs our help.”
