Bread seller lands in Kirikiri Prison for spending fake N1,000 note
June 25, 2018
A 27-year-old bread seller, Ifeanyi Osuohae, has been remanded in Kirikiri prison on Monday for boarding a taxi and giving fake N1,000 to the taxi driver, who gave him N700 change.
The prosecution alleged that Osuohae, a resident of Lateef Street, Orile-Agege in Lagos, had in his possession N2,000 counterfeit notes.
“The driver checked the fake N1,000 note and found out that it did not have CBN governor’s signature.
“The accused started arguing with the driver. In the process, the driver quickly drove to the nearest Police check point and alerted them.
“The Police found another fake N1,000 note on the accused after a thorough search,” Police Prosecutor Mike Unah said.
The magistrate has fixed June 27 for sentence.
