Borno governor escapes death as Boko Haram attacks convoy
The governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima has escaped being killed in an attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists while on his way to a rally in Gamboru-Ngala area of the state.
Eyewitnesses say the gruesome incident led to the death of about four persons among the envoy of the governor with many others still missing.
The volatile security situation in Borno has been a major cause of concern for the entire country since the state became the base of operation for Boko Haram.
Dozens of people were reportedly injured in the attack as well.
The deputy governor of the state was reluctant in confirming the attack, stating that he has not yet received word from the team on ground.
However, it was confirmed that the attack did not affect governor Shettima directly — only his envoy was impacted.
