Boko Haram: Army offers N500,000 reward for credible information on suicide bombers, provides numbers

The Nigerian Army is offering as much as N500,000 reward for anyone with credible information on would-be suicide bombers and their hideouts.

The gesture, aimed at checking the rate of suicide bombing attacks in the country, was made known by Army spokesperson, Sani Usman on Tuesday.

Usman disclosed that the spate of suicide bombing attacks has become increasingly worrying and the cash offer by the Nigerian Army “is to further encourage law abiding citizens to actively join the war against terrorists and our collective security.”

“Consequently, the Nigerian Army is offering a reward of the sum of N500,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of a suicide bomber, the guide to the suicide bomber, or discovery of the transit house or factory of the suicide bombers,” the statement reads.

Despite the Nigerian Army’s declaration that it had subdued Boko Haram insurgents, series of suicide bombing attacks have rocked the North Eastern part of Nigeria, particularly Maiduguri, in the past weeks.

The most recent of those attacks being the bombing of a mosque in the University of Maiduguri early Monday morning. The attacks left no fewer than fiver persons dead.

The army, about three years ago, promised a N50 million reward for any information that would lead to the arrest of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.
