Bloody crisis leaves 12 dead, 15 injured, and hundreds of houses destroyed in Kaduna

At least 12 persons have died in a crisis that erupted at Kasuwan Magani in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Monday.

The crisis, which police has said was avoidable, had left over hundreds of houses, shops destroyed and no fewer than eleven persons dead yesterday. Fifteen others were said to have been injured.

Another victim of the crisis has died on Tuesday (today), police have confirmed.

The State Police Commissioner, Austin Iwar, who visited the area told journalists that 18 suspects have been arrested and that the command recovered dangerous weapons, including petrol bombs.

He said, “We have about eleven dead. Yesterday some were buried around midnight. We buried eleven yesterday.”

Several properties were destroyed in the crisis.

Iwar also said the police was carrying out investigation to ascertain the cause of the incident.

“It is unfortunate. As we can see the level of destruction is very high, some people were killed and properties were destroyed. This is not what we wish for our state, Kaduna,” he said.
