Benue state university students shut school, protest ‘no fees, no examination’

Students of Benue State University on Friday (today) protested against the management directive of ‘no fees, no examination’ for any student.

Most of the victims, who are final year students, could have a spill over if not allowed to take part in the examination.

The protesters shut the institution’s gate as early as 6a.m, forcing the management to postpone the end of session examination.

The students used the situation to protest over the non-payment of salaries to Benue civil servants, which had made it impossible for some of the students to pay school fees.

Some of the placards had inscriptions like: “What will our parents use for payment of school fees, when salaries of over a year are not paid?”
