Benue COVID-19 index case, Susan Idoko-Okpe, regains freedom after 58 days in isolation centre

Benue COVID-19 index case, Susan Idoko-Okpe (nee Lawani), who was held at different isolation centres in Benue State and Abuja for 58 days has finally been allowed to go home.

She went live on Facebook a few hours ago to announce that she has regained her freedom.

According to her, “I’ve just been given my test and they said I’m still positive but I can go because I’ve met the WHO requirement.:

She thanked Nigerians for speaking up for her while she was at the isolation centre.

Susan has been kept at the isolation centre since March 24 after visiting Grace Cottage Hospital in Makurdi two days after her return from the United Kingdom. The state claims that she tested positive for COVID-19, but she disagreed and demanded her test result. She was later moved to Abuja after raising concerns that she does not trust the Benue state government.
