Asaba: Church building collapses, kills one, injures four others
A single storey building still under construction collapsed in Asaba, Wednesday, killing one person.
The building is allegedly the property of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Movement in Delta.
Located on Rapu lane, Asaba, the building was proposed to be the regional headquarters of the church.
Sources within the church say no life was lost but that about four persons working on the building sustained minor injuries.
They also expressed gratitude and relief that the incident did not occur on a Sunday as there would have been more casualties.
However, the Delta police spokesperson, SP Celestina Kalu confirmed the incident saying one person died after five persons were rescued from the rubble of the building.
She added that the Senior Pastor of the church and the building engineer had been invited for questioning.
The injured persons are already receiving treatment..
