“Arrest and prosecute culprits who battered Nigerian students” – FG tells Indian government

The Federal Government has summoned the Indian High Commissioner over attacks on Nigerian students.
Four Nigerian students were severely beaten and injured by locals on Monday evening.
At least 100 locals protested against African students living in Greater Noida’s Pari Chowk area. They want the Africans to leave.
Locals accused the Africans, especially, Nigerians of not only eating dogs and dealing drugs but also eating human beings.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olushola Enikanolaiye, called for the prosecution of culprits in a meeting on Wednesday.
“This is not the first time this would happen, Nigerians have suffered similar attack in the past,” he said.
“So, what we will like to see on this occasion is that the perpetrator should be arrested.
“And we want to see diligent prosecution so that it would serve as a deterrent to those who think they can take laws into their hands and harass students who are going about their studies.”
The Indian High Commissioner expressed his regret over the attacks and promised that they would ensure there is prevention of a reoccurrence.
