Army, Air Force Redeploy Senior Officers in Major Shake-Up
In a major shake-up within Nigeria’s military hierarchy, both the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have announced large-scale redeployments of senior officers aimed at strengthening operational efficiency and improving command performance.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Kelvin Aneke, approved the latest postings in the Air Force, while similar redeployments were earlier announced within the Nigerian Army under its ongoing reorganisation drive. The shake-up, according to defence insiders, reflects a broader effort to enhance synergy among the services and adapt to the country’s evolving security challenges.
In a statement issued by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, the Air Force reshuffle affects key positions at the Force Headquarters, field commands, and operational units nationwide.
Among the newly appointed senior officers, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Abubakar Abdullahi is now Chief of Policy and Plans, while AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun has been named Commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna. AVM Ibitayo Ajiboye assumes duty as Group Managing Director of the Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited (NAFIL) group of companies.
Other postings include AVM Precious Amadi as Chief of Operations, AVM Nnamdi Ananaba as Chief of Air Intelligence, AVM Ebimobo Ebiowe as Superintendent of Standards and Evaluation, and AVM Ahmed Dari as Chief of Training.
Ejodame explained that the redeployment is part of continuous efforts to optimise command structure, improve decision-making, and reinforce mission readiness.
Military analysts view the latest round of postings in both the Army and Air Force as a coordinated effort to reposition the armed forces for greater effectiveness in tackling insecurity across the country and improving inter-service cooperation in ongoing joint operations.
