Anambra: 6 children of same parents perish “after eating poisoned meal”
Six Nigerians, all members of the same family, have died after reportedly eating a meal poisoned by someone the police are yet to apprehend.
Five of the children, belonging to the Ohamalu family in Ekwulumili, Nnewi south L.G.A in Isikwu village of Anambra State, allegedly died after eating the food.
The meal was allegedly prepared by their mother on Friday evening. The woman is reportedly still alive. She also reportedly ate the meal.
Some say the food may have been poisoned by an enemy of the Ohamalus who must have sneaked into their house to lace the meal with poison.
After hearing of his siblings’ death, the eldest son of the family reportedly returned home…an died.
We don’t know at the moment if he also ate the “poisoned” meal.
The eldest son’s death is making some think a “strange evil spirit” may be responsible for the Ohamalus tragedy.
Police are investigating the case which has left many in shock.
“The matter was reported to the police,” state police spokesperson Alphonsus Okechukwu confirmed to our correspondent on Monday morning.
“The state CID is investigating the case. Corpses of the victims have been deposited at a morgue.”.
