Almost 200 police officers flee while being trained to fight Boko Haram

Police officers numbering about 190 have apparently fled from training to avoid partaking in Nigeria’s war against Boko Haram terrorists.

Police IG Ibrahim Idris had earlier ordered that 2000 officers be drafted and trained to fight the dreaded insurgents in the North East, in order to assist military operatives.

Based on Idris’ directive, the selected policemen were assembled for training at the Nigerian Army Special Forces Training School in Buni Yadi, Yobe State.

Almost 200 of those officers, new reports say, have since taken to their heels and have been declared wanted.

The officers, according to Premium Times, also reportedly fled with the weapons of war they were given during the training.

Authorities reportedly fear they could pose a threat to public peace with the rifles in their possession.

Soldiers on the battle front had been complaining about lack of provision of sophisticated arms and less than encouraging welfare.
