Alex Ogbu – In Memory Of Those Killed Illegally By The Nigerian Police

Alex Ogbu was an Abuja-based journalist felled by a police bullet while covering a protest by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria in Abuja on January 21, 2020.
The police were dispersing the Shi’ites’ demonstration when gunshots were fired and Ogbu was hit by a stray bullet. While the police authorities claimed he died after hitting his head on a stone, an autopsy report indicated ‘brain evisceration’ as the direct cause of his death. Brain evisceration is an injury to the skull caused by a high-velocity bullet.
