Aisha Buhari drags “unchained mad dog” Fayose to court
The battle between Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose and wife of Nigeria’s president Mrs Aisha Buhari has reached the law courts.
Mrs Buhari had given Fayose and his media aides an ultimatum to retract statements credited to them in which they reportedly alleged the president’s wife was indicted in the Halliburton bribery scandal.
They were also quoted to have said President Muhammadu Buhari and his family are “corrupt”.
Fayose failed to retract his reported claims.
This prompted Mrs Buhari to, on July 20, ask the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to serve Fayose and his media advisers, Idowu Adelusi and Lere Olayinka, court notices.
The presiding judge, Olukayode Adeniyi, granted her wish.
Before going legal, Mrs Buhari appeared to have gone on social media to call the governor “an unchained mad dog”. She later deleted the tweets, it appeared.
