ABUJA: Two men arraigned in court for cutting woman’s leg with cutlass

Two men were on Wednesday arraigned before Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly using a cutlass to cut the legs of a lady identified as Vera Atule.

The defendants, Abdulrazak Sani and Abubakar Hassan, faced a four-count charge bordering on criminal force, causing grievous harm and theft.

The prosecutor, Vincent Osuji, informed the court that the victim, a resident of Atule, Angwan Tiv, Karu, Abuja, reported the incident at the police station on October 21. She claimed she was sitting down at the front of her house when she was attacked.

“The complainant alleged that on the same date, while she was sitting in front of her house at the above-mentioned address, the defendants conspired, entered her house with sticks and cutlasses,” Osuji said.

“The defendants cut Atule’s legs with the cutlass, inflicting injury on her two legs before she was rushed to the hospital where she incurred a medical bill of N6,500.

“The complainant further stated that the defendants also stole her cell phone, valued at N11,500 in the process,” he added.
