Abuja: Man, 32, beaten to coma for allegedly raping 13-year-old girl
A man, identified only as Afolanya, was reportedly beaten to coma for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a 13-year-old girl.
Afolanya, 32, had allegedly lured his unsuspecting victim who was sent on errand by her mother into his residence at Iddo-Babota village, along Airport road, Abuja on Saturday.
Afolanya’s heinous act was reportedly discovered when the little girl’s mother became apprehensive in search of her daughter around 7pm. A neighbour would tell the worried woman that her child was seen entering the taxi driver’s room.
The victim’s brother, upon being informed, went into Afolanya’s room and allegedly caught him in the act.
He cried out for help and that was all residents in the area needed to rain blows on the suspect, stripping and knocking him unconscious in the process.
An eyewitness, Ishaku Musa, told Daily Trust that Afolanya denied having carnal knowledge of the little girl.
“In fact, the man was beaten to a state of coma, even as he denied that he only made an attempt when the girl’s brother came and forced the door open,” he said.
Police from Iddo outpost arrived at the scene shortly after and whisked the suspect away.
The suspect had been detained and investigation was still ongoing, reports say.
