Abia: Mother sets teenage son on fire for stealing
A woman, Chinyere Odum, allegedly set her 14-year-old son on fire in Abia State over MP3 player theft.
The boy, Prince, was accused of stealing a neighbor’s MP3 player.
Chinyere, as a form of punishment, allegedly tied the boy before dousing him in kerosene and set him on fire.
Reports say Chinyere was in the habit of beating Prince with firewood. She was subsequently apprehended and handed over to the police.
Prince was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, for treatment. He was said to have pleaded for his mother’s release, claiming he was at fault for stealing.
