Abia Airport to Be Operational in 24 Months – Alex Otti
Five days after the flag-off ceremony for the construction of the Abia Airport, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has assured residents that the project will be ready within 24 months—12 months ahead of the contractual timeline.
Speaking during a church service at Living Faith Church, Ogbor Hill, Aba, on Sunday, December 22, Governor Otti revealed:
“A few days ago, we flagged off the Abia International Airport. We gave the contractor 36 months to complete it, but I have extracted a commitment that in 24 months, the airport will be ready for us to use.”
The airport project, located in Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, was officially flagged off on December 17, 2024. The event, which marked a historic milestone for the state, was graced by Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barr. Festus Keyamo, SAN. Initially planned as an airstrip in the 2024 federal budget, the Abia State Government successfully advocated for the project to be upgraded to a full-fledged airport.
Handled by Craneburg Construction Company, the project aligns with Governor Otti’s broader vision of transformative infrastructure. Reflecting on his administration’s achievements over the past 18 months, Otti told congregants that the best is yet to come.
“The people ain’t seen anything yet. It’s still early morning, and greater things are coming.”

The Governor’s visit, described as unannounced, coincided with his wife, Mrs. Priscilla Chidimma Otti’s birthday. The congregation erupted in celebration as Pastor Wilson Inyang prayed for the Governor, his wife, and Abia State’s continued progress.
Top government officials, including the Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, and Hon. Ucheonye Stephen of the Abia State House of Assembly, accompanied the Governor to the service.
