“A man who wedded in Dubai shouldn’t protest in Nigeria” – man blasts 2face Idibia

Youth empowerment expert Seun Shogbamu has named reasons pop icon 2face Idibia shouldn’t be the one leading a protest against President Muhammadu Buhari’s failings.

2face enjoined Nigerians to, on February 6, join him in marching against the government. NewsroomNG and our affiliates support the planned protest which will take off 8am at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos. Here’s why.

But Shogbamu, who boasts of a track record of contributing to national development through his National Career Fair initiative, said 2face was not man enough to lead such movement.

“Taking a sneak peek into what has been trending in the news recently, one would wonder how 2baba has been quiet about the gory situation in his own state of origin – Benue state,” Shogbamu wrote 2face in an open letter posted to Facebook.

“Every day, a fisherman or farmer is reportedly killed by Fulani herds men and yet this was worth just a post from social media only by 2baba about.”

Shogbamu also questioned why 2face would stage such protest in Lagos State where the government recently spent tons of money on music starts during the festive season’s “One Lagos Fiesta”. He also said 2face may be staging the protest to enlarge his fan base and then rake in more money.

He also went after 2face’s wedding which he said contributed nothing to the Nigerian economy.

“Just two years ago, he (2face) staged a well-attended wedding ceremony in Dubai, contributing to the GDP of another country, ignoring our own local event planners, vendors and caterers,” Shogbamu said.

He also said 2face has not really contributed to training young Nigerian minds.

“Unlike some other young successful entrepreneurs like Akin Alabi (CEO, Nairabet), Sijibomi Ogundele, Ifeanyi Uba, Toyin Lawani (CEO, Tiannah Empire) who are job creators and also inspires other youths towards positive inclinations, one can ask how much support Mr. Idibia has given to youth empowerment initiatives in our nation,” he said.

2face had said the protest was no avenue for opposition political figures to score cheap political points but Shogbamu said that is exactly what those figures will do with the protest.

“I use this medium to encourage true Nigerians to be wise in their dwellings, it is safe to say that the march is a gesture of true patriotism; however, one must be really careful as motive supersedes all,” Shogbamu said.

“I encourage Nigerians to call for justice and accountability in all ways they deem fit, march, protest or empowerment. The most important thing is to be true in whichever way we wish to call for accountability.”

“I seize this opportunity to employ our youths to refocus their energies and time towards self-discovery, skills and talent acquisition, and entrepreneurship development activities,” he said.
