6 suspects gang-rape 3 teenage students after forcibly initiating them into cult group
Six suspected cultists have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Security Corp (LNSC) for allegedly raping underage students.
The suspects are accused of raping three Junior Secondary School students identified as Maryam, Sulia and Alimot – aged 15, 13 and 13 years respectively.
Names of all suspects are given as: Laguda Kamal, 20 years; Muyideen Aigoro; Kayode Damilare, 20 years; Quadri Ajayi, 27 years; Idoogun Yinusa; and Yinka Adewuyi.
They allegedly initiated the girls into the ‘Eiye’ cult group before taking undue advantage of them sexually.
The gang’s leader, identified simply as Wakili, whose residence was allegedly used to perpetuate the crime is said to be at large.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Israel Ajao (RTD), while parading the suspects on Thursday, disclosed that they usually visit the schools of their would be victim with dangerous weapon, threaten and force them to their hide out where they forcefully gang rape them.
Ajao said one of the victims was held for four days.
One of the victims, Maryam, accused Damilare and Wakili of gang raping her and Sulia after forcing them under gun point to their hideout.
She said, “Dare came to me in the school with gun that I should follow him to Agarawu that they are going to initiate me or else he will kill me. When we got there, they formed a circle and asked me to kneel down in their mist.
“They tied my face, sprinkled some things on my body, asked me to undress and raped me countless time for four days,” she recounted.
Two of the suspects, Kamal and Quadri, told newsmen that they had fun with the victims, but denied gang raping them.
Another suspect, Damilare, said he witnessed one of the incidents when Wakili and Yinka raped Maryam, but denied his involvement.
