Man, 45, arraigned for defrauding 3 victims

A 45-year-old man, Gbenga Adedayo, who is facing charges of fraud, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court on Monday.

Adedayo allegedly defrauded three persons of N646,000 between the months of October and November, 2016 in Ado-Ekiti.

The prosecutor, Monica Ikebuilo said the accused fraudulently obtained N300,000 from one Adeniyi Babatunde, N250,000 from Tunde Ajomole and N96,000 from Tope Oguntunde with a promise to secure jobs for them at the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Ikebuilo said the offence violated Section 419 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2012.

The accused pleaded “not guilty” to the charge.

Adedayo’s Counsel, Mr Tunde Falade, pleaded with the court for leniency on his client and asked that a bail be granted with a “promise he will not jump bail and will always make himself available in court during the trial.”

The Magistrate, Lola Akosile before adjourning the case to December 12, granted the accused a N50,000 bail and two sureties in its equivalent. The sureties must however be residents within the jurisdiction of the court.
