3 die, 24 injure as truck transporting cows suffers tyre blowout in Kebbi
An auto accident involving a truckload of cows led to the death of three persons along the Kalgo-Jega Road in Kebbi State on Saturday.
The accident, NAN reports, occurred when the truck suffered a tyre blowout as it headed to Lagos from Birnin Kebbi.
Twenty-four other persons were injured in the accident and taken to the hospital.
“The driver suddenly lost control of the truck while he was trying to stop it when the tyres burst. The driver cabin got separated from the main body and rammed to the ground,” an eyewitness said.
The FRSC spokesperson, Abdullahi Muhammad, said the injured persons were rushed to the Medical Centre, Kalgo.
“Three persons died on the spot, while 24 others were rushed to the hospital; we also recorded the death of seven cows,” Muhammad said.
“It (accident) happened when the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle following a tyre blowout.”
