28-year-old woman dies of Lassa fever in Ogun
Simply identified as Eze, the woman was receiving treatment at the isolation centre at the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital, Sagamu before her demise.
The Ebonyi indigene is the first person to die of the disease in the state.
Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Mr Babatunde Ipaye, who broke the news said none of the 121 primary contacts who have been put under observation has shown any symptom of the virus.
He however revealed that another 28-year-old pregnant woman has tested positive to the virus.
The new patient, an indigene of Kogi state, is receiving treatment at the same hospital in Sagamu.
Ipaye said the pregnant woman has recovered from the initial fatigue, body weakness and depression.
He added that the situation was under control and that people of Ogun State need not entertain any panic..
