15-year-old boy dies after drowning in Kano
Mohammed Basa, a 15-year-old boy, drowned while bathing in a pond at Kuka Bulukiya Community in the Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.
The spokesman for the Kano State Fire Service, Mr Saidu Mohammed, who confirmed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano on Monday said that the incident happened on Sunday when the deceased went to take his bath along with his friends.
He said “We received a distress call from one Malam Auwalu Dala at 12:40 pm that Basa’s body was found floating in a pond.
“On receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene at 12:58pm. Basa was found dead and his corpse was later handed over to the police.’’
Mr Mohammed urged parents to carefully monitor their wards and warn them to stay away from water to prevent them from unforeseen circumstances.
