12 babies dumped on Kebbi streets

The babies have rescued and handed over to orphanages for proper care, the Kebbi Hisbah Committee (KHC) told NAN on Tuesday.
The dumping and rescuing happened in the past one year.
During the period under review the committee also amicably settled 332 civil cases, KHC Director, Alhaji Abubakar Augie, said.
“We found the 12 dumped babies alive and took them to orphanage for care and upbringing while 31 women with unlawful pregnancies were counselled and assisted to undergo safe delivery.”
The director said that the committee had also recovered three unidentified corpses and handed them over to the police for investigation and necessary action.
Augie added that 50 youths engaged in drug abuse were arrested during the period under review and handed over to relevant authorities for counselling and rehabilitation.
“The committee also arraigned three goat thieves, as well as 12 youths engaged in kidnapping teenage girls for heinous acts”, he said.
The director urged parents to compliment the efforts of the committee by monitoring the movement of their children, to guide them from associating with bad eggs.
He commended the state government, traditional rulers, drivers union and security agencies for their support to the committee, which enabled it to record appreciable success..
