Zelensky Celebrates Usyk’s Triumph as Symbol of Ukrainian Resilience
As Ukraine continues to endure the hardships of war nearly three years after Russia’s invasion, President Volodymyr Zelensky hailed Oleksandr Usyk’s stunning victory over Tyson Fury on Saturday as a testament to the nation’s unyielding spirit.
In a Telegram post that quickly went viral, Zelensky lauded Usyk’s win in their heavyweight world championship rematch, calling it a vital symbol of hope and determination for the embattled nation.
“Victory!” Zelensky declared. “So important and so necessary for all of us now.”
Usyk’s triumph, which solidified his status as the first undisputed heavyweight world champion of the four-belt era, holds importance far beyond the sports world. For Ukrainians, it is a rallying cry amid their ongoing struggle for sovereignty and freedom.

“By retaining the championship belts, Oleksandr proves: we are Ukrainians, and we will not give up what’s ours,” Zelensky said. “No matter how difficult it is — we will win. Be it the ring, the battlefield, or the diplomatic arena, we fight, and we will not give up what’s ours.”
Zelensky concluded his message with a rousing call: “Congrats on the victory, Cossack! Congrats on the victory, Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine.”
Usyk’s latest victory, his 23rd consecutive professional win with 14 knockouts, follows his first triumph over Britain’s Tyson Fury seven months ago. With Saturday’s rematch, Usyk not only retained his championship titles but also strengthened his reputation as a powerhouse in the boxing world.
