All Law Enforcement Agencies Are on Alert: Yahaya Bello to be Arrested if Sighted – EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has hailed a recent Court of Appeal ruling as a validation of its pursuit of former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello. On August 20, an Abuja-based court ordered Bello to surrender himself for arraignment on charges brought by the EFCC.

Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s head of media and publicity, discussed the court’s decision during an interview on News Central TV. He described the ruling as a clear endorsement of the EFCC’s stance and an indication that Bello’s status has escalated to that of a fugitive.
EFCC emphasised its commitment to bringing Bello to justice, highlighting that the ruling reaffirms the agency’s position. The former governor faces serious allegations, including money laundering, breach of trust, and the misappropriation of ₦80.2 billion.
“What the Court of Appeal has done is to amplify our position and reinforce that we are unwavering in our focus on this matter,” Oyewale said. “Yahaya Bello is now a fugitive; he can no longer move about openly.”
Oyewale dismissed allegations that the EFCC is neglecting other cases, explaining that all matters under the commission’s review receive the appropriate attention. He attributed delays in some cases to procedural complexities and the EFCC’s strict adherence to legal standards.
The EFCC is working with both local and international law enforcement agencies to secure Bello’s arrest. Oyewale assured the public that Yahaya Bello’s efforts to evade justice are futile.
“He is hiding and has gone underground. All law enforcement agencies, both domestic and international, are on alert. If he is sighted, he will be arrested,” Oyewale stated.
