X3M Ideas partners with Ikigai 360 to expand global footprint amid increasing demand
X3M Ideas, the acclaimed pan-African marketing communications agency, has announced a significant strategic partnership with IKIGAI 360, a creative agency with operations spanning Mozambique and Portugal.
This alliance marks a pivotal moment for X3M Ideas, an aggressive expansion into Lusophone Africa and Southern Europe, further solidifying its position as a global player in the marketing landscape.
Ranked by the Financial Times as one of Africa’s fastest-growing companies in 2025, X3M Ideas is leveraging this collaboration to deepen its service capabilities across the African continent and extend its reach into key European markets. The move is a direct response to the increasing demand from global advertising and marketing firms seeking to diversify their cultural competencies and tap into emerging markets.
Steve Babaeko, CEO of X3M Ideas, emphasized the strategic alignment beyond mere business expansion. “This partnership is more than just business expansion; it’s a strategic alignment of vision and values,” Babaeko stated. He highlighted that IKIGAI Mozambique, in particular, provides a firm foothold within the dynamic East African market and the wider Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
The goal, he explained, is to seamlessly integrate international best practices with profound local market expertise, enabling “truly unified and culturally intelligent campaign execution from Lagos to Lisbon, and Nairobi to Maputo.”
IKIGAI 360, rooted in the Japanese philosophy of “a reason for being,” brings a human-centred approach to brand growth, specialising in brand strategy, creative execution, content creation, digital and traditional marketing, and public relations. This expertise is expected to bolster X3M Ideas’ offerings significantly.
Joana Prista, CEO of IKIGAI 360 Mozambique, praised the timeliness of the partnership, citing the “growing strength of the economic corridor between Africa and Europe, now responsible for business opportunities worth hundreds of millions of dollars.” She added that the alliance positions both agencies for “smart, solid expansion, with real delivery capacity across increasingly interconnected markets.”
Industry analysts view such cross-continental partnerships as crucial for agencies aiming to provide comprehensive solutions in an interconnected global economy. With ad spending in Africa’s advertising market forecasted to reach US$10.28 billion in 2025, according to Statista, the ability to navigate diverse linguistic and cultural landscapes offers a distinct competitive advantage.
Marketing expert Ayeni Adekunle noted, “The market demands a nuanced understanding of local cultures, combined with global standards of excellence. This partnership between X3M Ideas and IKIGAI 360 could set a new benchmark for how agencies approach pan-African and Europe-Africa engagements, particularly given the focus on Lusophone markets which have historically been underserved by larger global networks.”

Clients stand to benefit from direct access to Southern African and European markets, enhanced cultural expertise for campaigns resonating with Anglophone, Francophone, and Lusophone African audiences, and integrated solutions promising seamless execution across borders and in over 50 markets. The collaboration aims to position brands at the forefront of Africa’s creative renaissance and capitalize on the burgeoning Europe-Africa business synergies.
This alliance aligns with a broader trend in the US$1.16 trillion advertising industry, where organic growth is increasingly complemented by strategic partnerships and targeted acquisitions to unlock new geographical and cultural competencies, offering a blueprint for future growth through synergistic integration.
