“My wife beats me silly” – Husband seeking dissolution of 23-year-old marriage tells Ekiti court
A man identified as Lukman Owolabi wants a dissolution of his marriage because his wife is “stronger” than him and allegedly bullies him.
Owolabi appeared before a Customary Court sitting in Ikole in Ekiti State on Thursday to accuse his wife, operates a restaurant and bar in the town, of battery.
The wife, Esther, had filed a suit seeking the dissolution of her 23-year-old marriage to Owolabi, whom she accused of beating her always.
Owolabi however told the court: “My wife beats me whenever we fight because she has power more than me.”
The estranged couple, who have six children between ages 6-22, also urged the court to intervene in a landed property to ascertain the legitimate owner between them. They are both laying claims of ownership to the land.
Mrs Yemisi Ojo, the court’s president, fixed further hearing on the case for February 13.
