Who’s missing Jonathan? Nigerians don’t seem to agree
By Rotimi Akinola

Over 400 people have been killed in separate terrorist attacks since President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office on May 29.
A section of the Nigerian public believes the deadly figure is down to the fact that Goodluck Jonathan is no longer president.
Jonathan posted a message on Facebook, Sunday, condemning the attacks and asking Nigerians to support Buhari in the county’s war on terror.
The death of any Nigerian at the hands of terrorists is a sad reminder that the war on terror is a task for all Nigerians not just the armed forces. I urge all Nigerians to continue to pray for peace in Nigeria and to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the government does its best to bring an end to these acts of terror and secure all Nigerians. May God bless Nigeria. GEJ.
Nigerians used the comments section of the post to express their frustration with the new government. Most of them said they wished Jonathan was still president.
Some were, however, had other opinions.
Here are some of the comments:
Agbo Austine Ochim: May God continue to bless you and your family. I wish you could come back again and I will vote you. Thank you for serving our dear country.
Oshomah Grace: Nigerians! Hmmn! When will you grow up? That President Jonathan commented on an issue, you’re seeing it as an angel talking? Some of you like causing trouble.
Israel Adebayo Ojo: This man has shown good attitude and character as a patriotic Nigerian in and out of government. The good of Nigeria is for us all. I plead with you to show the same kind of character in your comments too. Let’s not kill ourselves with words of hate.
Emmanuel Joe: You are indeed the best President Nigeria ever had since 1960.
Ayoade Ibukun Olushola: Do you rate men by their speech or by their deeds?
Ghali Na Abba: You can’t deceive us with your sweet and recommendable post any more, you let this terrorist terminate and dismantle our nation during your administration.
Fidelis Isobe: It’s now clear that fighting insurgency is not by mere declarations at campaign grounds as hapless Nigerians still suffer deaths and various degrees of injuries at the hands of these heartless religious bigots called Boko Haram under the watch of a former military strategist.
Ugwu Melvin Ben: Let the world know that “uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.” God bless you my hero, God bless Nigeria.
Nwauzoh Chukwuemeaka: This is a good one from GEJ. This is a task for all. BH is evil and should be viewed as such. All must be involved to wipe them out. For me, the security agents can do little without information.
Eboetse Abubakar: Which past leader has ever said anything about terrorism close to this? You are the most civilised leader ever in the history of Nigeria.
Oku Theophilus Mmonesi Oku: Buhari still has time. He said he’ll wipe Boko Haram out in three months. He just spent 37 days in power. He still got time.
Abdulsalam Momoh Abdelask: Hello Mr Jonathan, we will not forget you because of the uncountable killings, injustices, bribery and corruption you brought on Nigeria. Just be part of the people that are ready to pray for this country.
Tukisi Motonya-Khumalo: You people are singing Goodluck Jonathan’s praise. You are the same who voted him out.
Kimberly Enyi: Sorry, Nigeria is better off without Jonathan in office. Certainly he must have followers who must sing his praise and also “miss” him.
Alyasau Sabo Haruna: Indeed the issue of Boko Horam is a mysterious event that makes us confused all the time. Insha Allah, one day it will be a history with the help of every Nigerian.
Muhammad Gimba Buhari: Ameen. You’re the hero of democracy and the best ever Nigerian president. We really miss you.
