Trump Takes Early Lead Over Harris in Tight 2024 Presidential Race
Although the results of most states are yet to be announced, former President Donald Trump is maintaining an early lead in the 2024 presidential election.
Trump, who lost his re-election bid to President Joe Biden in 2020, is seeking a comeback to the White House in a stiff face-off with Biden’s Vice President, Kamala Harris.
With results from 30 states out of 50, Trump has secured 211 electoral votes against Harris’s 145. To win a U.S. presidential election, a candidate must secure at least 270 electoral votes.
Trump’s early lead has been bolstered, in part, by winning states with high electoral votes. The former president won Texas, which has 40 electoral votes. So far, Trump has secured a total of over 50 million votes compared to Harris’s 44 million.
Additionally, Trump claimed victory in Ohio (17), Indiana (11), Tennessee (11), Missouri (10), and Florida (30), which together have a combined total of 79 electoral votes.

In contrast, the Democratic candidate won Illinois (19), Colorado (10), New York (28), Massachusetts (11), and Maryland (10).
With more votes coming in and results from key battleground states like Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Georgia still pending, analysts maintain that it is too early to call the final outcome.
