Truck driver reports self to police after crushing “Marwa” rider to death
One Femi Adewale, a truck driver, is in police custody after he crushed a tricycle rider to death in the Mushin area of Lagos.
The driver reportedly submitted himself to the law enforcement authority after he fled the scene of the incident.
His truck, reports say, rammed into the tricycle from behind throwing its rider out. The rider’s body, having landed on the road, was then crushed by the truck.
“The rider died on the spot,” an eyewitness told The Punch.
Lagos police spokesperson, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident.
“The truck driver reported at the division that while he was driving from Apapa to Ibese in his trailer, he hit a tricycle with number plate, EPE 817 QC.,” she said.
“The rider, whose identity has yet to be known, fell and the truck ran over him. His corpse has been deposited at the Mainland General Hospital’s mortuary for a post-mortem,” she added..
