Truck driver remanded in Kirikiri prison over reckless driving
A 32-year-old truck driver, Kayode Oyebamiji has been remanded in prison custody for alleged reckless driving.
Oyebamiji allegedly caused the death of another driver.
The resident of No 1, Billingsway Road, Oregun, Ikeja, is standing trial for reckless driving and manslaughter.
Chief Magistrate, T. O Shomade of an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, ordered that Oyebamiji be remanded at Kirikiri prison after his refusal to take the defendant’s plea.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Raji Akeem, had told the court that the offence was committed on Feb. 14 along Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Ikeja.
Akeem said that Oyebamiji drove his truck in a reckless and dangerous manner and hit a pick up van parked by the road side.
“The pickup van’s driver, who was inside his van when the accident occurred, hit his head on the door and blood gushed out.
“The pickup van’s driver, Dare Adeniran, was rushed to the hospital but died some weeks after,” Akeem said.
