Truck crushes motorcycle rider, passenger to death on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
A motorcycle rider and his passenger were both crushed to death on Monday by a speeding truck around Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The spokesperson of Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the accident to NAN in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Akinbiyi said the accident happened close to a Conoil filling station on the highway, around 6:20 pm. He blamed the accident on reckless driving and over speeding on the part of the truck driver.
“The truck had hit the motorcycle with no registration number from the back, killing the motorcyclist and his passenger on the spot,” he said.
Akinbiyi added that the body of the Bike man and passenger had been deposited at a morgue at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.
He also advised all truck drivers and other car drivers to reduce their speed on the roads in order to reduce the rate of accidents.
