Tobi Amusan Soars into 100-Meter Hurdles Semi-Finals at Paris 2024
Tobi Amusan, the world record holder, has stormed into the semi-finals of the 100-meter hurdles at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Nigerian star registered a blistering 12.49 seconds on Wednesday, outpacing her competitors and securing her spot as one of the top contenders for the gold olympic medal in the 100-meter hurdles event.
Tobi Amusan’s impressive performance saw her lead the field of eight athletes, with the American Alaysha Johnson trailing at 12.61 seconds and Jamaica’s Janeek Brown also advancing, finishing with a time of 12.84 seconds.
Amusan faces a strong lineup including the Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton, the USA’s Alaysha Johnson, world champion Danielle Williams, and Puerto Rico’s reigning Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn in the semi-finals of the event.
The semi-finals are scheduled for Friday, August 9, with the final set for Saturday, August 10, marking the penultimate day of the athletics event.

Some Achievements’ of Tobi Amusan
The 27-year-old hurdler has been in exceptional form leading up to the Games. In May, she posted a season-best and world-leading time of 12.40 seconds at the Jamaican Athletics Invitational in Kingston. Earlier in the year, Amusan set the indoor African 60m hurdles record twice and clinched her third consecutive African Games title in Ghana. Her victories also include anchoring the women’s 4x100m relay to gold in Accra and triumphing at the African Championships in Cameroon.
Amusan’s, illustrious career includes three consecutive Diamond League titles, two Commonwealth Games gold medals, two African championships, and three African Games golds. Amusan, who has competed in the Olympics before (in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020), is now aiming to win an Olympic medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
