Tobi Amusan’s Olympics Hopes Dashed; Nigeria’s 4×400 Men’s Relay Team Disqualified from Final
Nigeria’s sprint icon Tobi Amusan narrowly missed out on the final of the Women’s 100m hurdles at the 2024 Paris Olympics earlier today.
Tobi Amusan, who has dazzled the world with her speed and skill, finished third in her semi-final with a time of 12.55 seconds, finishing behind Grace Stark of the USA in 12.39 seconds and Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas in 12.50 seconds.
The two go through to the finals as the two automatic qualifiers from Heat 1 ahead of the reigning world record holder.

Despite Tobi Amusan’s effort, her performance was not enough to secure a spot as one of the fastest-best losers.

In a dramatic turn of events, the South African men’s 4x400m relay team has been granted a spot in the final, pushing the Nigerian team out of contention despite finishing in second place.
The Nigerian relay team, comprising Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathaniel, Dubem Amene, and Chidi Okezie, were disqualified due to a lane infringement.

Earlier, Team Nigeria had delivered a stellar performance in their semifinal heat, securing second place with a season’s best time of 2:59.81.
This impressive run had set them up for a chance to compete in Saturday’s men’s 4x400m Olympic final. However, the South African relay team has now claimed Nigeria’s place in the final after the Nigerian team were disqualified for lane infringement.
