President Tinubu Departs Japan For Brazil

President Bola Tinubu has departed Yokohama, Japan, for Brazil, where he will embark on a state visit starting August 24. After attending the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), Tinubu left Japan on Thursday night and will make a stopover in Los Angeles before proceeding to Brasília, the Brazilian capital.

Tinubu’s visit to Brazil is expected to focus on deepening cooperation in trade, security, agriculture, energy transition, and cultural exchange. He will hold bilateral talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and participate in a business forum with Brazilian investors to explore opportunities for strengthening ties between Nigeria and Latin America’s largest economy.

During his time in Japan, Tinubu attended the TICAD9 conference, which aimed to accelerate Africa’s economic transformation through private investment, innovation, and stronger institutions. He also held bilateral meetings with Japanese government officials, business leaders, and development partners to bolster Nigeria-Japan relations.

Additionally, he met with Nigerians in the diaspora, urging them to contribute their skills and resources to Nigeria’s development and act as positive ambassadors for the country.

The president’s state visit to Brazil marks a significant step in expanding Nigeria’s economic and diplomatic partnerships. He will return to Nigeria after concluding his engagements in Brazil.
