During the nationwide broadcast, Tinubu emphasized that true food security can only be realized once threats from terrorist groups are decisively dealt with. “My administration took over the leadership of our country 16 months ago at a critical juncture,” he stated, reflecting on the challenges faced, including a struggling economy and compromised security.

Tinubu described the moment as a pivotal crossroads: “We had to choose between reform for progress and prosperity or continuing business as usual, which would lead to collapse.” The president highlighted his government’s commitment to reforming the political economy and enhancing national defense.

Tinubu confidently reported that significant strides have been made against terrorist groups, stating, “I am happy to announce that our administration is winning the war on terror and banditry.” He outlined the ambitious goal of eliminating all forms of violent extremism, including Boko Haram and banditry.

In a striking claim, the president noted that over 300 Boko Haram insurgents and bandit leaders have been eliminated by Nigerian troops in recent months. “Within one year, our government has removed these threats faster than ever,” Tinubu said, detailing how peace has begun to return to hundreds of communities in the North, allowing many displaced citizens to return home.
