Tinubu congratulates Donald Trump on re-election as US president
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Donald Trump on his re-election as the 47th President of the United States.
The announcement was made through a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President and seen by Neusroom.
In his message, the Nigerian president expressed hope for closer ties between Nigeria and the U.S. under Trump’s new term. He stressed the importance of working together to boost economic cooperation, promote peace, and tackle global challenges that affect citizens in both countries.
“Together, we can foster economic cooperation, promote peace, and address global challenges that affect our citizens,” President Tinubu stated.
Tinubu mentioned the trust the American people have shown in Trump’s leadership by voting him back into office. He noted that with Trump’s prior experience as the 45th President, his return to the White House could strengthen economic and developmental partnerships between Africa and the United States.
The Nigerian leader also acknowledged the U.S.’s influence on global issues and expressed optimism that Trump’s leadership would contribute positively to global peace and prosperity.
