Tinubu Arrives in Abu Dhabi for Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu touched down in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on January 12, 2025, to attend the highly anticipated Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW). His visit, which comes at the invitation of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, marks an important step in strengthening ties between Nigeria and the UAE.
The announcement of Tinubu’s arrival was shared by the Special Assistant to the President on social media, Dada Olusegun, who posted a video of the president’s warm welcome at Abu Dhabi International Airport. In the video, President Tinubu is seen greeting Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The ADSW summit, which runs from January 12 to 18, 2025, is centered around the theme, “The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress.” It brings together leaders, innovators, and experts from around the world to drive forward discussions on sustainable development and socio-economic progress.
During the summit, President Tinubu is set to deliver a keynote speech, where he will highlight Nigeria’s ongoing reforms in energy efficiency, transportation, public health, and economic development. His remarks are expected to underscore his administration’s commitment to sustainability and fostering long-term growth for Nigeria.
Beyond the summit, President Tinubu’s trip includes meetings with top UAE officials to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between the two nations. The discussions will focus on exploring new opportunities for collaboration, particularly in areas like energy, trade, and infrastructure development.
Accompanying President Tinubu on the trip are key members of his administration, including Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs; Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President; and Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
