Thrills, frills, attractions and more, as Lagos celebrates yuletide early with unique street party

Lagos State is set to experience a total shutdown in what would be one of the liveliest yuletide celebrations in the state in a long time, with all roads leading to Ahmadu Bello Way on Victoria Island on December 3 and 4.

With a promise of maximum frills and thrills, two days have been set aside for the concert tagged: The Lagos Street Party.

Art exhibitions, gladiator challenge, paint balling, bubble soccer, children’s games, acrobatics, food tasting, are only a handful of the unique experience the celebration promises.

Food from hundreds of local vendors, drinks of all kinds, eye-catching performances, music from Nigerian musicians Olamide, M.I, Phyno and more, will complement the colour, passion and showmanship that hundreds of thousands of fun-loving people will display on those two days.

Part of the significance of this celebration, is the tourism attraction Lagos will benefit from, subsequently serving as another potential income generator for a state that already holds its head high as the most economically important state in Nigeria.

Lagos, a state which boasts a GDP of $91billion, is guaranteed to attract sets of local and international tourists with the street party, a la Calabar Carnival or even the Notting Hill Carnival in the UK.

And just as Akin Akinyelure, the Project Coordinator stated: “We’re bringing Africa, starting with Lagos, to the world’s attention. We’re showcasing and celebrating the talent, culture, hospitality, people, places, and all the things that make Lagos special and remarkable.”

The streets of Lagos have massively benefited from administrations that thrive on continuity, having been commendably rid of vices that pose threats to its inhabitants, and a celebration on its brightly-lighted roads is one that will surely excite its citizens.

In a bid to lessen inconveniences for road users on both days, the state government has already schemed alternative routes, stating its intent at hosting a celebration that would provoke nostalgia in years to come.

Come December 3rd and 4th, Lagos residents will have a chance to override the pressure of the economic recession that has rocked Nigerian homes since the turn of the year, even if it’ll be for a few days.
